Event-aligned market structure

Schematic

Schematic of a structural price break and the surrounding options positioningAn illustrative diagram. On the left, a price path consolidates, breaks below a structure level marked "structural break", and expands downward through a region labelled "price discovery", above an event-time axis running from minus fifteen to plus fifteen minutes. On the right, horizontal bars show put-side and call-side positioning across a strike band. The diagram illustrates the kind of structure this research studies; it does not plot measured data.STRUCTURE LEVELSTRUCTURAL BREAKPRICE DISCOVERY−15−5t₀+5+15EVENT TIME (MINUTES)OPTIONS POSITIONING+300+200+100ATM−100−200−300PE OICE OI

About

Research. Education. Impact.

Precision Capital Academy LLP is a partnered organisation combining market research, financial-market education and applied computational work.

The research arm asks empirical questions about how markets behave and answers them with data, code and explicit method. The education arm explains what those questions mean and why the answers are rarely as clean as they look. The applied work is the infrastructure that makes both possible.

It is a partnered organisation. It is not affiliated with any university, exchange, broker or asset manager, and it does not claim to be.

More about the organisation
  • 01

    Research without a mandate

No client, no mandate, no product to defend. The only thing a result has to survive is the next test.

  • 02

    Rigorous methodology

Questions are specified before the data is examined, confounds are controlled explicitly, and multiple comparisons are corrected across the whole family of tests — not the surviving one.

  • 03

    Reproducibility

Every published figure traces back to code that runs end to end from raw data. A result nobody can re-derive is an anecdote.

  • 04

    Evidence over narrative

Findings that do not replicate are reported as findings that do not replicate. Negative results are published, not filed away.

  • 05

    Theory and practice

The questions come from watching real markets; the answers are held to an academic standard. Neither half is much use alone.

Open Interest Repositioning around Intraday Price-structure Breaks: Evidence from NIFTY 50 Index Options

A comprehensive empirical study of whether intraday options open-interest repositioning provides advance information about structural price breaks in NIFTY 50 index options.

Key Finding
OI repositioning is strongly associated with break direction and that association is already building before the break is confirmed — but it peaks after confirmation, and it does not convert into a robust out-of-sample predictive edge.

Academy

Practical Education for Smarter Market Participation

Educational content covering derivatives, market structure, risk management and practical financial-market concepts.

  • Options & Derivatives Concepts

How option contracts actually behave: payoff structure, time decay, implied volatility, and what open interest does and does not tell you.

  • Market Structure & Price Action

Reading structure mechanically rather than by feel — swings, breaks, and the difference between a definition and an impression.

  • Risk Management & Positioning

Position sizing, exposure limits and the arithmetic of drawdown — the part of market participation that is not a forecasting problem.

  • Market Analysis & Case Studies

Worked examples on real sessions, including the ones where the reading was wrong and why that matters more than the ones where it was right.

More about the organisation

Market researcher working on Indian index options, stock options and equities — derivatives, market microstructure, systematic strategies and applied machine learning.

The method is the one this site describes: propose a signal, specify the test before looking, control the obvious confound, and hold a period back for a single honest evaluation. Findings that do not replicate get published as findings that do not replicate.
